Grocery shopping can be a stressful and time consuming process for many adults. We spend time crafting lists, looking at our pantries, fridges and iceboxes to try to figure out what we need for our needs. This loop is sometimes done multiple times due to things changing, running out of room, sloppy handwriting... you name it. In addition to that, the list can be sporadic with grocery categories being sprinkled all throughout the list causing us to jump around the store and wasting time.

Here comes Gist!

Gist is your all-in-one shopping buddy. Creating Gists is easy and allows for quick classification for items using magic. Enter an item and have it be auto-categorized. Items that do not have a current category are marked with miscellaneous tags and still allow users to track their status. Gist was designed to be easy to use with a UI that feels at home on your iPhone with familiar gestures and layouts.

Gist allows you to reuse Gists, create new ones, delete incomplete ones that you no longer need all while keeping a clean space. No longer do you have to clutter your Notes app or waste paper.

Speaking of wasting paper... Gist aims to help users know how much paper theyre saving. Gist will let you know how many reams of paper (500 sheets) youve saved. This is a direct correlation to how many trees weve saved and the impact that has on the environment.

Gist has current features such as:

1. Snapshots of your weekly and yearly activity
2. Reams of paper prevented from entering landfills
3. Unlimited amount of local Gists
4. Unlimited amount of items per Gist
5. A UI that was designed to be easy to use and at home on your iPhone
6. A certain quality that youve come to expect.

Gist is also supported entirely by Indie Devs and as a result, we are able to produce rapid iterations so Gist will be frequently updated. The product road map details some great features for collaboration as well as ways to make shopping more engaging and fun. This should help users feel like theyre motivated to do their weekly (or daily) shopping instead of dreading the chore we all know it can be.
